This lesson will also teach you how to talk about clothes, colors and physical appearance. Physical=thuộc về thể chất; appearance.=vẻ ngoài. A model, a fashion model.=người mẫu thời trang. To be married to=là vợ (hay chồng) của ai. Jenny Chen is married to Richard Chen, a teacher.=Jenny Chen là vợ ông Richard Chen; ông là thày giáo. Are you married or single? Bạn có gia đình rồi hay còn độc thân? Her mother wanted to marry her to a doctor.=mẹ cô ta muốn gả cô cho một bác sĩ. Get married.=cưới. Ellen is getting married next week.=Tuần tới Ellen lấy chồng. Phân biệt nghĩa và cách dùng 4 chữ: cloth/clothes/clothing/to clothe: cloth=mảnh vải. I need a piece of dry cloth to dry these dishes.=tôi cần một mảnh vải khô để lau khô những cái đĩa này. Nhóm chữ: A man of the cloth.=thày tu. Cloth là uncountable noun, số ít.=vải. She brought some red cloth to make a dress.=cô ấy mang đến một sấp vải đỏ để may áo dài. Clothes=quần áo (số nhiều). Put on the clothes=get dressed=mặc quần áo. Take off the clothes.=get undressed=cởi quần áo. He took his clothes off and went to bed.=anh ta thay quần áo và đi ngủ. Clothing (số ít, dùng thay cho clothes)=clothing store=tiệm quần áo. To clothe=bận, mặc. He fell into the lake fully clothed.=anh ta té xuống hồ còn nguyên quần áo. Clad=chữ này ít dùng, past participle của to clothe, thường dùng như adjective.=The model is clad in silk.=cô người mẫu thời trang bận toàn đồ lụa. Với nghĩa “mặc,” thay vì dùng clad, hay clothed, ta có thể dùng chữ dressed.

 It also focuses on expressions with the verb “to look.”

Kathy: Today our guest is Jenny Chen.
Max: The model?
Kathy: Yes. She’s married to Richard Chen, the teacher.
Max: What’s the topic for today?
Kathy: We’ll talk about clothing and colors.

You look very nice=trông bạn xinh lắm. Look good on somebody=(món đồ mặc) trông đẹp với người nào. The green jacket looks good on Jenny.=Jenny looks good in her green jacket. Jenny mặc cái áo vét xanh lá cây rất xinh. Favorite=ưa thích, mến chuộng. My favorite jacket=cái áo vét tôi ưa thích nhất. Morning jacket=áo vét dài có đuôi của quí ông.  Jenny: Well, clothing is important to me. I like to look nice.
